Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set for release in Indian cinemas on July 30, a day ahead of its global theatrical debut on July 31.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film runs for about 144 minutes and will release in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker and Spider-Man, alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, with Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, Mark Ruffalo, Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman and Michael Mando also in the cast.
Set four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home, the plot follows Peter Parker in a world where no one remembers him, as he protects New York City while going through a mysterious physical transformation.
The official trailer, released on April 1, shows Peter reconnecting with MJ and Ned while dealing with his encounter with Frank Castle and the changes he is undergoing.
India’s Central Board of Film Certification has cleared the film with a UA 13+ rating, after ordering the removal of a kissing scene and some strong language, along with a mandated alcohol warning on screen.
The film is produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios alongside Pascal Pictures, continuing the joint Sony-Marvel arrangement for the character.
Cinema chains and online ticketing platforms in India have already opened bookings for the film’s release.
The previous instalment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, took in $1.92 billion worldwide in 2021, making it the highest-grossing Spider-Man film ever and the only pandemic-era release to top $1 billion globally.
The film continues Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ joint arrangement for the Spider-Man franchise, which has combined Marvel’s creative oversight with Sony’s distribution of the character’s solo films.
Tom Holland first played Peter Parker in a small role in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, before headlining his own trilogy of Spider-Man solo films and appearing in multiple Avengers ensemble movies.
