SEMICON India 2026 kicked off at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi, with the fifth edition of the event drawing over 600 companies from 52 countries.
The three-day summit is themed ‘Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem’ and features more than 150 speakers along with country and state pavilions.
The event opened on PM Modi’s 76th birthday, which also fell on Vishwakarma Jayanti, a coincidence he referenced while linking India’s craftsmanship heritage to its technology push.
Ahead of the inauguration, a CEO roundtable saw Japan’s Fujifilm commit ₹800 crore to a new semiconductor materials facility in India.

The government has set a broader target of building India’s semiconductor market into a $200 billion industry as part of its long-term electronics manufacturing strategy.
September 17 also marked PM Modi’s 76th birthday, as well as Vishwakarma Jayanti, which the PM referenced in his address while linking India’s traditional craftsmanship to its modern technology ambitions.
This is the fifth edition of SEMICON India, part of an annual event series that has grown each year since it was first launched to showcase India’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
The three-day event, running September 17-19, is organized jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and global industry body SEMI.
More than 600 exhibiting companies, including over 300 international firms, are participating across 15,000 square metres of exhibition space, with delegates from 52 countries and over 150 speakers.
The event includes six country pavilions and twelve state government pavilions, along with a Startup Pavilion featuring 40 emerging semiconductor and electronics startups.
