Prime Focus Studios has signed a deal with Sony Pictures to distribute its mythological epic Ramayana outside India, in what is being described as a landmark agreement for Indian cinema.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, and is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, with music composed by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman.
Following the announcement, the trailer launch for Ramayana has been postponed. Namit Malhotra, founder of Prime Focus Studios, called the Sony Pictures tie-up a historic moment.
The film is set for release across multiple languages internationally, including a premium English-language version.
Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions will continue to oversee the film’s release within India.
