Pakistan has unveiled the National Champions Cup, a new one-day tournament forming part of its buildup to the 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup.

The event runs from August 11 to 18 at the Multan Cricket Stadium, featuring four teams across seven matches.

A single round-robin phase will be followed by a final, with the sides named Pakistan Gold, Pakistan Greens, Pakistan Whites and Pakistan Blues.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan will captain the four teams, chosen by the national selection committee.

The tournament is designed to help gauge the depth of one-day talent in the country ahead of the World Cup.

It is part of a broader revamp of Pakistan’s domestic cricket calendar for 2026-27, including an expansion of regional teams and changes to the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
