Knight Riders Sports has brought back Ryan ten Doeschate, appointing him as Head of Cricket Strategy across all of its franchise teams.
The role puts him in charge of scouting, recruitment, squad planning and performance evaluation throughout the Knight Riders group.
He will also take on Assistant Coach responsibilities for Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20, and Los Angeles Knight Riders in the MLC.
Ten Doeschate first played for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 and was part of the side’s IPL-winning squads in 2012 and 2014.
He returned to the franchise as a coach from 2022 to 2024, helping guide KKR to its third IPL title in 2024.
Knight Riders Sports CEO Venky Mysore said the group was delighted to have him back, citing his deep understanding of its cricketing philosophy and wide-ranging experience.
Ten Doeschate said he was excited to work with coaching and analytics teams across the franchises to strengthen their scouting and player-development systems.
The appointment follows his recent departure as assistant coach of the Indian men’s team after its white-ball series in England.
The Knight Riders group is majority-owned by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment at 55 per cent, with Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta’s Mehta Group holding the remaining 45 per cent; the same ownership also runs Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL.
Ten Doeschate is a former Netherlands international known for two centuries at the 2011 World Cup, including a famous 119 against England, and for a near two-decade playing career at Essex, whom he captained to two County Championship titles before retiring in 2021.
Knight Riders Sports operates franchise teams across multiple global T20 leagues, including the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20, and Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket.
