Asian Games boxing: India’s Lovlina takes 75kg gold

India’s Lovlina Borgohain took the women’s 75kg boxing gold at the Asian Games 2026.

She beat China’s Bao Ziyi 5-0 in the final on October 2.

The bout was held at the Nishio Gymnasium.

She is only the second Indian woman to win Asian Games boxing gold.

The Games run until October 4.

It is her first Asian Games gold medal.

Indian boxers had a strong run at these Games, with Ankush Panghal and Parveen Hooda also reaching their finals.

The Asian Games 2026 are being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

Boxing bouts at the Asian Games are scored by a panel of ringside judges, and a 5-0 verdict means all five judges scored the bout in the winner’s favour.

India’s overall medal tally at these Games has continued to grow across boxing, shooting, archery, athletics and other sports.

The 75kg category is one of the heavier weight divisions in women’s boxing.

Borgohain has competed at the highest level of Indian women’s boxing for several years.

China has traditionally fielded strong boxing squads at the Asian Games.

Mary Kom is a six-time world champion and one of the most decorated Indian boxers of all time.

A boxer who reaches an Asian Games final is guaranteed at least a silver medal.

India’s boxing federation has invested in training camps and international exposure for its top boxers in recent years.

Lovlina Borgohain won gold in the women’s 75kg boxing event at the Asian Games 2026 on October 2.
