India’s Sensex ended a five-day slide on Monday, jumping 776 points to close higher.
The Sensex settled at 76,835.78, up 776.29 points or 1.02 per cent, while the Nifty climbed 229.40 points, or 0.96 per cent, to 23,995.95.
The rally was driven by a sharp fall in crude oil prices after the United States and Iran paused military strikes, easing concerns over a longer conflict.
IT and bank stocks led the gains, with Eternal and IndiGo among the day’s top performers.
The advance extended a positive start seen earlier in the session.
This reverses five straight sessions of losses caused by an earlier spike in crude oil prices.
